House of Pentacles
House of Pentacles · survival, class, work that consumes the self
—
The Working Coin
The feminine self organized through labor and endurance. Pentacles is the house of labor — the woman who became respectable, employable, useful, and forgot how to be wanted. Its myth is the ledger always kept in her head: what she's owed, what she owes, what she'll have to do tomorrow to keep what she earned today.
Upright
Resilience, caretaking, practical intelligence, embodied competence. Worth becomes tied to usefulness.
Reversed
Burnout, self-neglect, resentment, identity through labor, martyr identity. The belief that rest must be earned through exhaustion.
Iconography
An ancient stone granary — wood beams, clay floors, iron tools. Low amber hearthlight. The sound of distant machinery, floor creaks, breathing fire.
Mythic function
Keeps the world alive while receiving little recognition.
“Who taught you your value depended on how much you could carry?”
